The intent of the book Naval Forces Under the Sea: The Rest of the Story is to record the of the U.S. Navy’s undersea story that were left untold, and to give details of the whole story to include how man, through the U.S. Navy, challenged the oceans’ depths—how they sometimes lost and how they sometimes won. The Navy has incorporated as many key figures as possible and assures readers their mission is to thoroughly convey the “rest of the story” of U.S. Naval undersea history.

Naval Forces Under the Sea: The Rest of the Story tells the history of naval undersea warfare since the introduction of the first U.S. submarine, USS Holland. But it is more than a history book. By using literal excerpts from the numerous interviews, much of the book consists of a living history, told in story fashion by those who made this history. Naval Forces Under the Sea: The Rest of the Story preserves this history to be retold again and again to future generations.
