Five New K-9 Teams Join Fish and Game Patrol

Five police service dogs and their warden handlers have graduated from the Department of Fish and Games (DFG) K-9 Academy this summer. Applications are now being accepted for the following volunteer opportunity at Cabrillo Marine Aquarium. Cabrillo Marine Aquarium is seeking volunteers to educate school children about our local ocean environment via docent-led school tours of their exhibit hall, aquarium, and outdoor classroom. Following 10 weeks of training, docents will choose one morning per week to provide tours during the school year. Cabrillo Landing Reenactment on San Miguel Island

Cabrillo Marine Aquarium (CMA) is offering a Channel Island Adventure to San Miguel Island on Saturday, September 12, 2009. San Miguel is the most remote island of the Channel Islands National Park. International Coastal Cleanup

Ocean Conservancy now has a new searchable online registration system for the International Coastal Cleanup helping volunteers find a cleanup site in their hometown. This year the International Coastal Cleanup will take place Saturday, September 19. Some of these cleanup efforts will involve underwater trash search and recovery. The International Coastal Cleanup is the world’s largest volunteer effort to help protect the ocean.
