The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department Underwater Search and Rescue Team is seeking qualified SCUBA divers who are skilled and reliable and willing to volunteer their time, resources, and efforts in a commitment to their community.
Prospective candidates must attend the orientation session for the Underwater Academy on Friday evening, February 25 at 7:00 PM at the Sheriff’s Academy, located at 275 Eubanks Street (Eubanks and Durley) on the grounds of the Camarillo Airport.
Course Fee: $250.00 to offset cost of the training.
In order to be eligible for team membership, candidates must demonstrate mastery of advanced diving skill by successfully completing the training program. Classes are held on Friday evenings and Sunday mornings from June 3 through August 28, 2011.
Candidates must:
Be 21 years of age.
Own their personal dive equipment.
Be a resident of Ventura County or immediate vicinity.
Hold a current Open Water Certification (Advanced Certification is preferred).
Possess a valid California Driver License.
Meet all background requirements of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.
Demonstrate strong watermanship skills and commitment to the program.
Possess First Aid / CPR certification (may be obtained concurrent with the Dive Academy).
